Precautions and emergency measures when using ammonium sulfate

02/24/2025
Ammonium sulfate as a chemical, if accidentally inhaled, ingested, contact, will stimulate the eyes, mucous membranes and skin, so we need to pay special attention in the use of the process, if accidentally exposed, need to take the correct emergency measures.

1, operation precautions: closed operation, local exhaust. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that the operator wear a self-priming filter dust mask, chemical safety glasses, protective work clothes, and rubber gloves. Avoid producing dust. Avoid contact with acids and alkalis. When handling, light loading and unloading should be done to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equipped with leak emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may have harmful residues.

2, storage precautions: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. It should be stored separately from acids and alkalis, and should not be mixed. Storage areas should be equipped with suitable materials to contain leaks.

3. Precautions for use:

(1) Do not contact or mix with other alkaline fertilizers or alkaline substances to prevent reducing fertilizer efficiency.

(2) It is not appropriate to apply ammonium sulfate on the same cultivated land for a long time, otherwise the soil will become acidic and cause compaction. If it is necessary to apply, it can be combined with some lime or organic fertilizer. However, it must be noted that it cannot be mixed with lime to prevent ammonium sulfate from decomposing and causing nitrogen loss. Generally, the combined application of the two should be separated by 3 to 5 days.

(3) Not suitable for application on acidic soil. It is obtained by neutralization of ammonium hydroxide and sulfuric acid, crystallization, centrifugation and drying.

4. Emergency measures:

Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse with plenty of running water.

Eye contact: Lift eyelids, rinse with running water or saline for at least 15 minutes, and seek medical attention.

Inhalation: Leave the scene to the fresh air, if breathing difficulty, give oxygen, medical treatment.

Ingestion: Drink enough warm water to induce vomiting and seek medical attention.
